"Sweet Mama speed, we have arrived!"

With me running a 1:09.6 and Brian running a 1:10.5, our little Hix Racing project has finally took the steps needed to contend for the top spots on the podium. Only head-hunter Robert Jensen kept me from getting my first win at Blackhawk during this hotly contested CCS round.

In the GTO race, Hix Racing almost completely filled the podium with me taking a 2nd and Brian taking 3rd. The 25 minute race length allowed Brian to recover from a poor start, with me and Brian both benefitting from the endurace built up by many, many laps instructing as CR's.

I finished on the podium in the Unlimited Superbike and Unlimited GP races as Brian continued to run good pace but suffered from poor starts. However, it was the last race of the weekend, the Unlimited Supersport race, that brought out the best in both of us.

I got a good start and fell in right behind Jensen into Turn 1 and actually almost hit him as he chopped my nose off pretty hard. I gave chase for the first and second lap, but I just didn't have the pace he had. It definitely help me to step up my pace though, enough that I was able to finish the race just inches ahead of Brian Hall as he pressured me for the pass the entire race.

Blume got a bad start again and spent most of the race fighting through traffic. However, after clearing the traffic he set sail running a 1:10.5 as he really grew into his own. Congrats Brian!
